Known as Opus de Limogia or Labor Limogiae, Limoges was the most well-known European hub for the manufacturing of vitreous enamel in the 12th century. Faience earthenware, or exquisite in-glazed ceramics, was another product of Limoges. The city’s culture was intricately intertwined with its legacy of pottery and ornamentation.One company that makes Limoges porcelain is Royal Limoges. It is the oldest porcelain factory in Limoges still in operation, having been established in 1797.
